El Horno Frances

Without Glen sitting in front

Amid a conversation on Tomzap about a new bakery in Melaque who makes mostly sweets and no French bread the owner of El Horno Frances in Barra reminded us that they have it. I bought a baguette there some time ago but never have seen a fat loaf of French bread. I'll check closer next time.

They are located at 25 Lopez de Legazpi which is next to the entrance to the Alondra Hotel pool.

Barra waterfront after

The beach is extremely ugly but for the most part the rocks protected the buildings. The statue on the malecon is leaning a bit and there is rumor of a beach side pool cracking. My guess is it's the Alondra pool because it's closest to the beach and more likely to have an undercut foundation.

The Cadillac Ranch

"The Ranch" located across from the water park on the road into Barra has gone through changes over the last few years. It's been popular with snow birds in the winter months but goes dead in the summer. Early this year with the completion of the pool a groups of people decided to have water volleyball twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It turned out to be the best exercise, way to stay cool and much fun for me over the summer. Now that I've moved from the area I will really miss it ... but you should give it a try. They were putting in a new patio around the pool when I left
